Couldn’t resist this quiztime from Julia Bayer.

Here’s a closer look at the photo:

The first thing I notice of course, is the sign: 5,5.

But after I zoom in, I see the tower at the far end, and also another construction to your left.

Looking at the shape of the tower, the first thing I think of is the Berlin Fernsehturm.

Very distinctive.

From there I had to find the road. On Google Earth I searched for the Berlin Fernsehturm.

The yellow lines indicate the roads, having selected ‘Roads’ under the layers tab on Google Earth. Zooming out gave me this:

Looking at the photo, the road Julia is on appears to be a highway, particularly given the 5,5 sign. Google confirmed it:

So looking at ‘Autobahn’ roads (blue signs) with a straight view of the Fernsehturm, Berlin towards the South, I zeroed in on A114. On streetview, I started moving around the A114 and it looked about right, the greenery, the road boarders, and eventually, the kilometre sign:

After moving around a bit, I came across the 7,0, and eventually the structure to the right:

Further on, I found the 5,5 sign:

The exact spot. We have the 5,5 kilometre sign, the structure to our left, and if you zoom in, the Berlin Fernsehturm.

For the bonus point, the time. The first thing I notice is that cars have their lights on. Remember that Julia is headed south, towards Berlin. The sun appears to be to her right. Notice also the shadows under the cars ahead.

On Sonnenverlauf, I found the pinned spot and compared the adjacent streets on Google Maps:

The question is, at what time of the day, and according to the above, it would be the evening, the sun to the right of Julia’s car would be the sun setting to the west.
